SHINE.... The Painting

We paint for the joy that it brings to our soul. This is truth. Do we know that in the process we may find something precious?
The technique and physical process of SHINE was freeing. I painted the majority of the piece upside down. I find that I pay greater attention to the details when this technique is applied. My reference point was a photo and to zoom in and focus on ONE detail at a time is key. Each highlight within each eye (example) becomes nothing more than a shape. In the upside down position, that is all I see. Shapes, highlights, lines, and contrast replace eyes, lips, and all details. My self induced surprise is when the piece is rotated to the upright position, and I see the living results.
